ACCLIMATION AND CARE
Water Preparation Guide for Your Fish
Water Requirements:
Use dechlorinated and aged water only.
Dechlorinator dosage: 2–3 times the manufacturer’s recommendation.
Aging process:
Use airstones for strong agitation.
Age water for at least 48 hours before use.
Ideal pH range: 7.5–8.0.
Important Safety Measures:
Do not use water or equipment from other tanks (risk of cross-contamination).
If sharing equipment is unavoidable, disinfect thoroughly before use.
Keep new fish completely separate from existing fish to prevent disease transmission.

Equalizing Water Temperature for New Fish
🛑 Before Start:
Wash hands (avoid cross-contamination).
🌡️ Temperature Equalization:
Wait 1 hour – Leave sealed box near tank.
Float unopened bag in tank for 30 mins.
Check temp by hand – Inside vs. tank water.
🐟 Transfer Fish Safely:
Hand-scoop only (no nets – protects slime coat).
Never dump bag water into tank – discard outside.
No mixing – Fish goes straight to clean tank water.
Quarantine Tank Setup for New Fish
🌊 Filter Choice (Critical!)
Use foam filters only (e.g., Poret® by Swiss Tropicals) – minimal current, max bio-filtration.
Avoid power filters – Fancies hate strong flow.
Post-quarantine: Combine foam + power filters (or stay foam-only).
🌡️ Temperature Rules
No heater needed if room is 70–80°F.
If using a heater: Set to ≤75°F (matches pond conditions).

Water Change Guide
Start Safe:
25% water changes, max 2x/week (use aged water only).
Only increase amount gradually if fish stay healthy.
⚠️ Never Exceed:
40% water change (emergencies only).
Why?
Large changes cause:
☠️ Shock • Dropsy • Death
💸 Unstable water = Dead fish = Wasted money
Golden Rule:
Stability = Growth. Stress = No growth.
Sunlight for Your Fish
Natural light is ideal – Place tank near a window (mimics greenhouse conditions).
Permanent setup: Ensure 2–4 hours of sunlight daily for health.
Avoid overheating: Provide shade if sunlight is too intense.
Why?
☀️ Boosts fish health & coloration
🌡️ Prevents temperature swings

Feeding Guide for New Fish
Start Light & Soft
First foods: Frozen/live bloodworms or brine shrimp (avoid freeze-dried).
Portions: Tiny amounts 1–2x daily (watch for uneaten food).
Long-Term Diet (70/30 Rule)
70% frozen/live: bloodworms & brine shrimp
30% high-quality pellets
Avoid: Freeze-dried foods (hard to digest).
Quarantine & Introducing New Fish
🛡️ 4-Week Quarantine
Why? Lets them recover from transit & lets you monitor health.
All our fish are healthy – but mixing sources risks disease.
⚠️ Critical Rule
Never mix fish from different vendors unless:
Both are 100% healthy & parasite-free.
You’ve observed them 4+ weeks separately.
